Cat Health and Wellness Products

Although the average life expectancy for cats is 13-17 years, your feline friend can actually live well into their 20s if you take proper care of them and actively look after their health and wellness. That includes feeding them healthy foods that give them all the good nutrients their fuzzy little bodies need with none of the fillers, additives, and chemicals that can be harmful. As a pet parent, it’s your responsibility to give your kitty the best life possible, and that starts with feeding them a healthy, well-balanced diet. But with all the different brands out there all making many of the same promises about how great and nutritious their food is for your cat, it can be difficult to identify the best ones and be confident you’ve made the right choice. Thankfully, there’s PetShip and our curated selection of only the best, most nutritious, and healthiest cat food.

Choose from specialty food for your cat’s unique dietary needs like corn-free, gluten-free, and grain-free, and food made without corn, wheat, or soy so they still get everything they need with none of the stuff they don’t. We also carry food that helps address certain health concerns, like skin and coat care, hip and joint care, arthritis and joint care, and more. This great variety makes PetShip the best place to buy healthy food so you can better look after the health of your cat.

What makes a good diet?

Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning their diets need to be almost completely meat. In the wild, cats get nutrients from birds, mice, and other small animals, so their meals should replicate the high protein, low carb diet they’d naturally eat. So, when shopping for cat food, look for products that have meat as one of the first ingredients listed.

However, cats can’t live off meat alone. There are a variety of other vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, and amino acids. These should come from natural whole ingredients like fruits, vegetables, and some carbohydrates. Keep in mind, cats don’t have much need for carbohydrates, and their liver doesn’t have the enzymes needed to metabolize them effectively, so you’ll need to be careful when giving your kitty foods high in carbs and only feed them the right amount. The best kinds of carbs for cats will be those with a low glycemic index like berries, spinach, nuts and seeds, pumpkin, squash, and broccoli.

What’s better – dry or wet cat food?

Unlike dogs, cats don’t drink a lot of water. This is because in nature, they’d rehydrate themselves from the moisture found in the tissue of their prey. This makes feeding your kitty wet food extremely important to their diet. Dry food is often the more convenient choice, but it doesn’t have the moisture that your cat needs. Wet cat food not only has the moisture your kitty needs in their diet that they won’t get from drinking water alone, but it also includes more proteins and fat than dry food. Dry foods are ok to use as treats or save for emergencies, but more often than not, wet cat food is the way to go.
